Chicago, IL
2008
This is the first building of a two building project in one of the few remaining open tracks of land in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. The building shape is defined by the varying unit sizes required for various multifamily tenants and the overall design gives a “contextual nod” to the pre Chicago fire neighborhood. A senesce of belonging to the neighborhood is developed by acknowledging cultural preferences for multiple brick colors and patterning. The brightly colored cornice was added in the realization that the building was of a lagers scale and would be highly visible throughout the neighborhood.
