SAIC Homan Square

Chicago, IL

2016

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago has developed two floors at the Nichols Tower at Homan Square. Their new spaces include a Classroom/Studio for workshops aimed at North Lawndale community residents, and an office and studio for an Artist in Residence program. Nichols Tower, built in 1906 as the original ‘Sears Tower’, will be a new hub for arts and multi-media education, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s spaces in the building will accommodate a curriculum in the visual arts, design and technology. The Artist in Residence program will collaborate with nearby communities around themes of civic engagement.
