School of the Art Institute – Fiber Department

Since completing the Academic Facilities Study for the Department of Fiber and Material Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, WLW has worked with the department on several remodeling projects over the course of six years that have implemented most of the goals of the department’s master plan. The department has renovated their existing facilities on the 9^th floor of 37 S. Wabash and expanded to the 10^th floor. New facilities on the 10^th floor include a new expanded Weaving Studio; new Sewing Lab; new Textile Resource Center; and a Paper Making Classroom.

9^th Floor renovations have included opening up and expanding the Dye Kitchen facilities, and new classroom space with improved traffic flow between program spaces.
